"I'm raising $1,000 for the 15th Anniversary of the Festival I love!"
So far Nikhil has raised $40!
I have experienced many wonderful things as an actor in the Festival. There is a special moment in the way we staged Romeo and Juliet: At the end of the play, as Prince and the two families leave their children in that tomb, the lights go down, and the play is seemly over. Tragedy. And then, as evening twilight gives way to nighttime, these two resilient kids rise and find each other in the stars.
We had so many people come up to us after the show, and relate how much that simple moment had moved them. It made clear that although the written play ends with their death, the message is that through their love, they changed the world. And this is a message that ISC frequently gives its audience - that forgiveness, hope, and love are the most transformative magics of all.
Why should you support me? If you believe that stories should be told by a plurality of people, giving voice and perspective from performers like me, you should show your support by donating to the Festival. If you believe that our art, history, and culture belongs to all people, no matter of race, age, gender, religion, orientation, or wealth, you should show your support by donating to the Festival. If you believe that a theatre company that unites the divergent people of Los Angeles under the pretext of love and community should thrive, extend, and reach even more Angelenos, you should show your support by donating to the Festival. The Independent Shakespeare Company’s commitment to the generosity of time, agency, and compassion towards the art-makers and the art-experiencers alike is unparalleled by any theatre company in Los Angeles. If you believe that these gifts should be available not only to the performers and audiences of today, but to the young imaginers and storytellers of tomorrow, show your generosity now by donating to the Festival.
